Warning: This post contains spoilers for season 8, episode 1 of Game of Thrones.
Jon Snow finally knows.
During Sunday’s Game of Thrones season 8 premiere, the King of the North (Kit Harington) learned the truth about his family tree: He’s not the bastard son of Ned Stark, but rather the only child of Ned’s sister Lyanna and Rhaegar Targaryen. So he‘s the rightful heir to the Iron Throne, rather than Rhaegar’s little sister, Daenerys, who he just bent the knee to and bedded on a boat.

(And, yeah, he’s dating his aunt. But given the Targaryens’ time-honored tradition of incest, this may not be super problematic.)

Jon’s reaction, when BFF Sam finally spills the beans, is a mix of rage that his honorable “dad” lied to him his whole life and stubborn disbelief that Dany may be the khaleesi of the great grass sea, breaker of chains and mother of dragons, but she’s certainly not the first of her name. We’ll have to wait to see if Jon mans up and challenges her claim to the throne; in the meantime, here are the wildest Twitter reactions to the oh so satisfying reveal.
