Olivia Jade Previously Revealed Her Parents Warned That 'You Only Get One Reputation'

Lori Loughlin and Mossimo Giannulli stressed the importance of reputation to their daughter Olivia Jade long before they allegedly became embroiled in the college admissions scandal.

In a vlog titled “sorry mom & dad…” from June 2018, Olivia Jade opened up about her rebellious teenage phase, including one particular time at age 16 that she successfully snuck out of her Los Angeles house to visit her then-boyfriend in Santa Barbara.

Though the 19-year-old influencer admitted that she did “some really shady s—” during high school, she revealed that she was forewarned by her parents, who were unaware of the times she snuck out, to avoid getting in trouble and ruining her image.

“I don’t know how I didn’t get caught for ,” she said in the video. “I’m lucky I’m alive. Really, their only thing for me was about safety, ‘don’t Uber by yourself’, ‘be classy’, ‘you only get one reputation.'”

“Yeah, glad I listened to them,” the popular YouTube blogger added. “I think I came out decent.”

After the confessions, Olivia Jade made sure to clarify, “I just make my parents sound like they don’t keep tabs on me. I promise I’ve been in trouble plenty of times.”

Last month, Loughlin, 54, and Giannulli, 55, were among dozens charged in an alleged college admissions cheating scam involving elite colleges and universities including Yale, Georgetown, the University of Southern California and Stanford.

The Fuller House star and the Mossimo clothing company founder allegedly gave $500,000 to say Olivia Jade and her sister was part of the USC rowing team when that was not true, the indictment states.

The documents allege that Loughlin — best known for her role as Aunt Becky on the sitcom Full House — and her husband Giannulli, “agreed to pay bribes totaling $500,000 in exchange for having their two daughters designated as recruits to the USC crew team — despite the fact that they did not participate in crew — thereby facilitating their admission to USC.” (It is unclear whether or not Olivia Jade and her sister Isabella Rose knew about the scandal.)

Since the scandal broke, Loughlin, Giannulli and Olivia Jade have faced intense backlash, with a source of the family telling PEOPLE that the 19-year-old is very “upset with her parents” and has no intention of returning to school.

“She is definitely upset with her parents. This wasn’t her idea,” the source said of the influencer, who has been dropped by several beauty companies, including Sephora and TRESemmé, in the wake of the scandal. “She didn’t care if she got into USC. She just wanted to focus on her business.”

“She feels that she worked very hard for something that she loves, and she has no idea what will happen with her business in the future,” the source added.

In the meantime, Olivia Jade has been laying low and leaning on her closest friends, a source tells PEOPLE. “Olivia is hanging out with longtime friends, but that’s it. She doesn’t want to go out in public.”

“Her boyfriend lives in Malibu, so she is spending time there, too,” the source continued of Jackson Guthy, a model.

Currently, “her life is still very much upside down and it’s difficult for her,” the source added.

On March 13, Loughlin was arrested and made her first appearance in federal court in Los Angeles, where a judge set her bond at $1 million, according to the Associated Press, the Orange County Register and the San Gabriel Valley Tribune. The actress faces a felony charge of conspiracy to commit mail fraud and honest services mail fraud.

Loughlin is permitted to travel to British Columbia, where she has filming projects in Vancouver, but must surrender her passport in December, according to the O.C. Register.

Giannulli appeared in federal court a day prior and was released after posting a $1 million bond.

An attorney for Loughlin did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment. A representative for Loughlin had no comment.

On Wednesday, Loughlin and Giannulli appeared in Boston federal court, where they waived their right for a preliminary hearing. They also agreed to several pretrial conditions, including surrendering their passports and no possession of firearms.

The couple has not entered pleas in the cases against them. Another court date for them has not yet been set.
