George Clooney is reuniting with his Irish relatives!
The actor and his wife, international human-rights lawyer Amal Clooney, flew to Ireland this weekend to enjoy their Easter break, the Irish Independent reported.
Their trip was reportedly part of a family reunion planned by the two-time Oscar winner’s parents, Nick, 85, and Nina, 80, who flew into Ireland earlier that week.
“The first thing he said when he arrived was, ‘The Irish Clooneys are doing okay.’ He’s an absolute gentleman,” Clooney’s cousin, Andy Ring, told the Independent, which also reported that Clooney dined with Bono at Dublin’s Coppinger Row during his stay.
According to irishheritagetowns.com, the Clooneys have relatives in the small Irish town, Abbeyleix — their ancestral home located an hour away in Windgap, Kilkenny. Ever since the connection was made by a family tree, the two families have stayed in contact, and George’s father paid a visit to Abbeyleix.
“He came over in 2007 and saw the cottage next door to me and we went to Kilkenny to the old family home and out for dinner,” Fiona Clooney, George’s Irish cousin told the website. “I have to say, he’s such a lovely man. He’s a real genuine person and he’s so grounded and down to earth.”
The website also reported that Fiona has visited the Clooneys in the U.S. with her boyfriend, staying for three days with Nicholas and Nina in New York.

“He treated us like the VIPs out there, because we were the Irish relatives,” Fiona said. She will be starring in a new documentary George Clooney’s Irish Roots — The Real Descendants by Kilkenny documentary maker Gabriel Murray, telling the story of the Hollywood star’s roots in Abbeyleix.
And now George may be visiting Abbeyleix and Fiona himself, according to the Irish Independent.
Kanye West and Kim Kardashian also visited the same area for their 2016 honeymoon. The location is set in the foothills of the Slieve Bloom mountains.
