Justin Bieber isn’t threatened by any Instagram “likes” his model wife gets!
On Wednesday, Bieber, 25, gushed over his wife Hailey Baldwin by sharing a series of photos of her on Instagram. One photo in particular, which shows Baldwin, 22, driving a car, caught the eye of her former flame Shawn Mendes, who double tapped the image.
The small gesture prompted a number of fans to speculate whether or not the “In My Blood” singer, 20, was being flirty.
However, before commentators could say otherwise, Bieber responded to the “like” by writing, “Their friends relax,” on fan account HailsBuzzle’s screen grab of the post, captured by Comments By Celebs.
Before Baldwin was linked to Bieber, many believed she was involved with Mendes.
Last year, Mendes and Baldwin attended Universal Studios’ Halloween Horror Nights, had dinner, and left Baldwin and Kendall Jenner’s co-hosted Halloween party together while holding hands. “He’s amazing, and I think that his music is also amazing,” Baldwin gushed to PEOPLE at the iHeartRadio Music Awards in March.
In May 2018, Mendes and Baldwin walked the Met Gala red carpet side by side. However, Mendes denied that the red carpet stroll indicated a relationship.
“No, we were not making our big debut,” the musician, who recently released a self-titled album, told PEOPLE at the time. “Obviously Hailey and I are friends, and it was just really cool for me to be able to walk with her because she’s a vet and it was my first year, so it kind of took the pressure off a little bit.”
After news broke that Baldwin and Bieber got engaged, Mendes revealed he was one of the first to congratulate the model.
“I texted Hailey the day of, and I said congrats,” Mendes said on the Australian show The Project. “That’s what it is. I think everybody wants there to be more — there’s not.”

Bieber and Baldwin got married in September 2018 at a New York City courthouse.
Last month, the newlyweds opened up about their relationship, which is a constant work in progress, according to Baldwin.
“The thing is, marriage is very hard,” Baldwin told Vogue. “That is the sentence you should lead with. It’s really effing hard.”
The couple also revealed that they have been going to therapy to strengthen their communication and are working on making sure they can talk to each other without having their personalities clash.
“He’ll say, ‘I feel,’ and I’ll say, ‘I think,’ I have to really dive deep and struggle to be in touch with my emotions. He gets there immediately,” the model explained.
On his differences with his wife, Bieber said: “I’m the emotionally unstable one. I struggle with finding peace. I just feel like I care so much and I want things to be so good and I want people to like me. Hailey’s very logical and structured, which I need. I’ve always wanted security—with my dad being gone sometimes when I was a kid, with being on the road. With the lifestyle I live, everything is so uncertain. I need one thing that’s certain. And that is my baby boo.”
At the end of the day, all Baldwin wants is to have a stable bond with her husband — which doesn’t mean perfection but rather a foundation that’s built on always being there for each other through the ups and downs.
“It’s just that I’m fighting to do this the right way, to build a healthy relationship, I want people to know that,” she shared. “We’re coming from a really genuine place. But we’re two young people who are learning as we go. I’m not going to sit here and lie and say it’s all a magical fantasy. It’s always going to be hard. It’s a choice. You don’t feel it every single day. You don’t wake up every day saying, ‘I’m so absolutely so in love and you are perfect.’ That’s not what being married is.”
